David Muir, the anchor of ABC World News Tonight, has taken to his Instagram account to give his hundreds of thousands of followers a super-rare update on his personal life
David Muir has treated his followers to some much-needed personal news.
The 52-year-old anchor, best known for presenting ABC World News Tonight and a notoriously private person, took to his Instagram Story to give his 702k followers a glimpse of what he seemingly got up to over the weekend.
David shared a snap of himself sitting in a theatre seat, holding a program for the show Fallen Angels, a comedy about two housewives and friends who realize they are both having an affair with the same man. It comes after David stepped away from his long-running ABC News show over the weekend.

“@instasuelos congratulations! This cast is incredible – a hilarious escape @fullyrosebryne @kelliohara my face hurt,” David captioned the post, sending his well wishes to his good friend Mark Consuelos.
The journalist has been close friends with Mark and his wife, Kelly Ripa, for several years, with their friendship stemming from their shared time at ABC.
The Live with Kelly and Mark star is leading the Roundabout Theatre Company’s acclaimed revival of Noël Coward’s Fallen Angels alongside Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara and Oscar-nominated actress Rose Byrne.
Fallen Angels follows two upper-class wives whose afternoon takes a rather unexpected turn after they begin reminiscing about their pre-marital affairs before realizing it was with the same man.
Things get worse when they suspect their former fling may be on his way to visit while their husbands are away on a golf trip. The show was written by Noel when he was just 24 and was met with a ton of controversy when it first premiered in London in 1925.
It was initially censored by England’s Lord Chamberlain, who objected to its discussion of pre-marital intercourse and what was described as the “unnecessary frankness” of its female characters.
The ban was later lifted after revisions, and despite calls to cancel it, the production went on to play to enthusiastic audiences. It would premiere on Broadway in 1927 at the 49th Street Theatre.
Fall Angels’ revival, which has marked the first since 1956, is directed by Scott Ellis. Tracee Chimo, Christopher Fitzgerald, and Aasif Mandvi also star, while Tina Benko, Christopher Innvar, Max Gordon Moore, and Laura Shoop round out the company as understudies.
“It’s basically a French farce,” Rose teased during an interview which aired in March on Good Morning America, while gushing about the “brilliant, fun and quite-surprising” play.
“It’s very heightened, there’s a lot of physical comedy. It’s a whole lot of fun. So we’re hoping people will be drawn to that. It’s a bit of an escape,” she added.
