'Death planes' should not be entertainment: Letters

‘Death planes’ should not be entertainment

Sept. 5 − To the Editor:

Did everyone enjoy the air show this weekend? How repugnantly privileged we are to be entertained by the sights and sounds of warfare. In less fortunate places around the world, these are the sights and sounds that are seen and heard just before someone’s city or town is reduced to rubble. That monstrous roar that cuts through the sky like thunder is what is heard just before someone’s life is taken in an instant, with a sudden flash of fire and human carnage. But here in America, the spectacles of death planes flying overhead are a jolly form of amusement for those of us lucky enough to never have to experience the horrors of war on our own soil. How fortunate we are to be on this side of that equation.

While we’re on the subject — I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who used the air show as a platform to protest the I.C.E. deportations flying out of Pease Airport. In the state whose motto is “live free or die,” we should never become numb to masked kidnappers, the absence of due process, and the abandonment of the American way. We all grew up reciting the words “with liberty and justice for all.” I think it’s about time we start living up to those words.

Thankful that jets overhead are just for an air show

Sept. 7 — To the Editor:

I’m sure I wasn’t alone, over the last few days, in thinking about the millions of people worldwide who must rush to safety when they hear military planes overhead.

My dad was an Air Force pilot. I have so much respect for the skill and bravery of the Navy’s Blue Angel pilots. And I thank my lucky stars that I live in a place where the sound of military jets overhead, at least for the moment, is an air show.

Air Show makes me feel like I’m living in a war zone

September 4 − To the Editor:

Right now I am literally shaking from the noise of the so-called Blue Angels.  They should NOT be allowed to fly over residential areas!  Our entire area is under assault by these awful jets, spewing air pollution and noise pollution constantly! It should be illegal. I am tempted to sue for emotional duress.

I can hear a bird freaking out in our backyard.  There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this level of thunderous noise! Can’t wait until they’re gone!  May they NEVER come back!

Now I know how people in a war zone feel!

I wish we had the money to go away for the weekend!

Speeding on I-95 in New Hampshire is out of control

Sept. 7 − To the Editor:

I was under the impression that New Hampshire only had a Motor Speedway in Loudon. Apparently, there is another one on Interstate 95 from Portsmouth to the Mass line. Frequently cars are driving 90-100 mph (estimate) and even tractor trailer trucks at 90. Most offenders are from Maine, MA and NH.

Over the past year there have been several serious accidents in this section, probably due to speeding, tail gating, aggressive lane changes and distracted drivers. There is some discussion about erecting a median barrier, which may help prevent cross over accidents, however, the real problem is speeding.

NH has an excellent State Police force, but… where are they ? If hiring more troopers is a problem, maybe we should pay more and respect them.

Is special ed dead?

Sept. 7 − To the Editor:

Had it not been for Federal Judge Lanya McCafferty’s issuance of  a temporary restraining order, schools offering special education could have lost “all sources of public funding’  including that for Individuals with disabilities we know as special education. My attempt to write legislation providing programs for students on IEPs (Individual Education Plan)  attending postsecondary educational programs (NH is the only state in the union that lacks one) would be illegal. “As a result of New Hampshire’s recently enacted bill, HB2, DEI considerations are now prohibited in state governance, which in effect prohibits schools from identifying individuals based on disability.” (Exhibit 45 Plaintiff’s Reply to Defendant’s Opposition to Plaintiff’s Emergency Motion for Preliminary Injunction”)

In effect, the Republican so-called Trailer Bill, HB2 signed by Governor Ayotte reflecting President Trump’s war on diversity,  could kill the highly successful special education program as we know it.

This is so big, no one is paying attention. Bless the plaintiffs, the National Education Association-New Hampshire; Oyster River Cooperative School District;  Dover School District; Somersworth School District; Grantham School District; Dottie Morris; James T. McKim Jr; and New Hampshire Outright for standing up for students with disabilities and their parents.

Department of War president wants Nobel Peace Prize

President Trump wants to change the name of the Department of Defense to the Department of War. So much for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Claims of COVID danger are exaggerated

Sept. 6 − To the Editor:

(A recent letter writer) raises her voice and in doing so reveals her ignorance. Let’s take a look at the facts shall we? According to the WHO that usually exaggerates on the high side but, let’s just take their figure for total “COVID induced” deaths worldwide for the 4 years ending in 2024.That figure sits at around 7.1 million. Now, 7.1 million is approx. 0.09 percent of 8 billion ( total population) 0.09 percent does not represent a “pandemic”. And, since we know for a fact the mRna+Nanoparticle injections were neither safe nor effective at preventing the spread of COV2 the claim that the Pharma dope “saved lives” over this span since the 2021 rollout is total BS. Herd immunity explains the entirety of any perceived declines in infection, illness and deaths.

Let’s just spread the Covid death toll evenly across 4 years and call it 1.8 million deaths per year. OK? Now, according to WHO there were 68 million all cause deaths worldwide in 2021. Even if we accept the dubious WHO number of 1.8 million per year assigned to COVID we find that this figure is approximately 2.5 percent of the total of 68 million deaths. Considering the numbers and volume of comorbidities found among the COVID death toll the task of definitively implicating COV2 in deaths as distinct from death due to these comorbidities is an almost impossible one. This fact alone leaves this 2.5 percent suspect, yet even so, we still can’t claim to see an earth shattering “pandemic” in the figures.

(The letter writer) and her alarmist, brainwashed ilk need to relax, take some breaths and try learning from the COV2 debacle what not to believe.
