The chart, launched in March 2025, tracks the 50 most-streamed songs by female artists each month. It was initially rolled out in markets including France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

The company said the chart will now also be available in Serbia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Croatia and Poland, bringing the initiative to a broader range of European audiences.

According to Deezer, the chart was introduced to address the continued underrepresentation of female artists in many mainstream music charts, despite their cultural influence and popularity.

Deezer rap and R&B editor Narjes Bahhar said the initiative was created to highlight the contribution of women in music.

“The Women Chart was born from a clear observation: women are still underrepresented in the charts. Yet, they shape music every day,” Bahhar said. “This project is not symbolic. It is necessary. It corrects an imbalance. It makes visible what is not visible enough.”

She added that the chart’s expansion reflects the platform’s broader ambitions. “One year after its launch, its expansion to new countries confirms one thing: this commitment must be global. We have an editorial responsibility. The responsibility to choose what we highlight. The responsibility to broaden the scene. The responsibility to ensure that music truly reflects those who create it.”

Deezer said the initiative aims to increase the visibility of female artists by highlighting local music scenes in each participating country, including both emerging and established performers.

The platform has also introduced additional features within its application during March to coincide with celebrations of women in music. These include playlists focused on female performers and a version of the platform’s personalised recommendation feature, Flow, dedicated exclusively to music performed by women.

Users can also view data about their listening habits through the “My Deezer Month” report. The company said that, on average, 27% of listening time in February 2026 was devoted to female artists, an increase of one percentage point compared with September 2025, when the metric was first introduced.

Nina Boulet-Gigliesi, Music and Culture Specialist at Deezer, said the platform’s editorial teams also created a collaborative playlist featuring female artists from different regions.

“Together with the women editors at Deezer, we thought it would be fun to make the experience more human: a playlist that brings styles and territories together and highlights female voices,” Boulet-Gigliesi said. “Because ultimately, music is even more powerful when it tells a diversity of stories, and especially when it’s shared collectively.”
