Singer Demi Lovato had a lively night in Los Angeles as she joined MISTR’s first-ever National PrEP Day celebration at The Abbey in West Hollywood on October 9. The event was filled with music, celebrities, and an important message about sexual health.

During the evening, Lovato surprised the crowd when she jumped into the DJ booth with Diplo to debut her brand-new song, Kiss, which dropped the next day along with its music video.

With the crowd cheering, she told fans, “Let’s make out, have fun and be safe with MISTR!” setting the tone for a night full of energy and positivity.

Celebrities Turn Up for Music and Awareness

The event turned into a star-studded party featuring big names like Dua Lipa, who performed her hit songs New Rules, Don’t Start Now, and Houdini. The show was hosted by Bob the Drag Queen and saw appearances from Cardi B, Tamar Braxton, Kim Petras, Matt Bomer, NeNe Leakes, Cynthia Bailey, Omar Apollo, Colton Underwood, and more.

The celebration marked the end of MISTR’s 10-day campaign to encourage 10,000 new people to start using PrEP by October 10. PrEP, short for pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a daily pill or twice-yearly injection that helps prevent HIV transmission by up to 99 per cent.

Lovato Shares Why the Cause Matters

Speaking on the blue carpet, Demi Lovato said she felt it was important to support the event and the message behind it. “MISTR is doing incredible work for the community,” she said as quoted by People.

“Everyone deserves health care that’s affordable and accessible, especially for something as important as PrEP. It’s so important to talk about sexual health and look out for one another; the queer community has led the way on that,” she stated.

She added that being at the event reminded her how powerful it is when people come together. “It’s inspiring to see people educate, entertain, and uplift one another,” Lovato said. “That’s what we all need right now.”

MISTR’s Founder Emphasises Ending HIV

Tristan Schukraft, founder and CEO of MISTR, explained that with PrEP, ending HIV is within reach.

“We can end HIV; we already have the tools,” he said. “Taking PrEP means taking control of your own sexual health, just like the birth control pill did for women.”

Lovato, who recently married singer-songwriter Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, is also gearing up to release her new album, It’s Not That Deep, on October 24. It features her latest songs, Fast and Here All Night.
