Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle, the first of the anime trilogy, has broken some crazy records in Japan and Southeast Asia.

We live in a time where anime is surpassing the normality of being just a niche form of media content, as the popular Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle film has been breaking various records in Japan and other parts of Southeast Asia.

While the movie has yet to be released in European or North American countries, it has been selling countless tickets at the box office in Asia.

Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle surpasses Titanic in Japan

In its 38 days at the box office, Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle has done outrageous numbers in Japan and other parts of Southeast Asia. In fact, the movie has already outsold Titanic at the box office with 19,825,555 tickets being sold as of this Monday (August 25, 2025) morning.

This many tickets sold equals 28,087,694,600 yen, which translates to around $190.8 million. Titanic, which is the third-highest-grossing film in Japan, was topped by Demon Slayer’s first movie, Mugen Train, in 45 days.

What makes this feat even more impressive is that Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle is the first movie in a trilogy, marking a new era where anime outdoes regular Hollywood films.

In fact, with the movie not releasing elsewhere yet, we still have yet to see what sort of numbers it does across the world. Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle releases in theaters worldwide on September 12, 2025.

About the new Demon Slayer movie

After four seasons and a movie, Demon Slayer has stolen the hearts of anime fans across the world. Many have dedicated so much of their time to watching the wild adventure of Tanjiro, as he tries to find a cure for his sister, Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon.

However, darkness awaits him throughout his journey. The new Demon Slayer trilogy will mark the end of the series, as it details the final events of the manga.

Prepare to set your hearts ablaze, as the movie releases in just a few weeks throughout Europe, North America and the rest of the world.
