“If there’s anybody I’d ever want to work with again, it’d be her,” Quaid added on the latest episode of the Out of Order podcast
Dennis Quaid is reflecting on how “magical” his late The Parent Trap costar, Natasha Richardson, was.
While speaking on the Tuesday, March 10 episode of the Out of Order podcast, Quaid, 71, admitted, “My heart breaks every time,” after being shown a scene featuring him and Richardson in the beloved ‘90s Disney film.

In the 1998 flick, Quaid and Richardson play Nick and Elizabeth, exes whose twins Hallie Parker and Annie James (both played by Lindsay Lohan) scheme to get them back together. The film also starred Elaine Hendrix and Lisa Ann Walter.
Richardson died in March 2009 at age 45 after suffering a head injury from a skiing accident. She was survived by her husband Liam Neeson and their two sons Michéal and Daniel, who were 13 and 12 at the time.

Speaking of his late screen partner, Quaid said, “Natasha, she was just an incredible person and amazing,” adding, “If there’s anybody I’d ever want to work with again, it’d be her.”
“She was a great person, besides being an amazing actor to work with,” he went on, clearly getting emotional. “She really was, and the way she went was … just a little accident on the ski slope.”
The Day After Tomorrow actor addressed his previous claim that Richardson was one of the reasons the movie worked. “She has a charm to her,” he explained, also referencing “her relationship with her own kids, which she brought also to this.”
“There’s just something magical about her … She’s just present when you’re working with her,” Quaid continued, adding, “I really miss her.”

Quaid’s latest comments about Richardson come after he told E! News in 2024, “Natasha, God bless her. She passed from us about 10 years ago and she’s so sorely missed. What a beautiful, beautiful woman, great person.”
Asked where he thinks his character would be after the events of the original film, Quaid hypothesized, “I guess he’d be sipping some of the wine out of his vineyard, not traveling too far from home.”
“He’s still with Elizabeth,” he added.

Richardson’s husband, Neeson — who met the late actress while they were working on the 1993 Broadway production of Anna Christie, before they tied the knot in 1994 — also spoke to PEOPLE about his late wife in 2024, saying that their family “pulled together” in the wake of Richardson’s sudden death.
The Taken actor said at the time that his primary focus became “making sure [the couple’s sons] were okay.” He added that his mother-in-law, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister-in-law, Joely Richardson, “were extraordinary” in stepping up to help the family.
