Derek Hough has sent Dancing With the Stars fans into a bit of a frenzy! It all happened when someone posted speculation about the show doing a Wicked themed night on Season 34. Hough saw the TikTok video and replied in the comments, “careful what you wish for,” adding a winky face.
When a fan commented, “Derek don’t play with us,” the longtime DWTS cast member responded, “You think I’m playin.”
Dozens of fans commented on the post, which was later shared to Reddit where more fans reacted. Given the popularity of the new Wicked film co-starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, it’s no surprise that Hough’s tease is getting such a huge reaction.
“Rylee did have a wicked song on her DWTS playlist,” one Redditor commented on the thread, referring to Rylee Arnold’s Spotify playlist.
“As a theater kid, I need Derek to not play with my emotions like that. A wicked night?!??!? I’d lose my mind. Even if its a broadway night. I’d freaking love that,” someone else said.
“Omg!!!” read a third comment.
“I’m hoping for Broadway in general but with part two coming out, I feel like there’s a good chance it’ll be Wicked week. Exciting either way!!” a fourth Redditor added.
Theme nights on Dancing With the Stars are nothing new. Over the years, one recurring and popular theme night has been Disney Night.
The new season of Dancing With the Stars premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 16 on ABC.
