Keanu Reeves recently paid tribute to his Something’s Gotta Give co-star Diane Keaton, who passed away on October 11 at the age of 79. Speaking at the New York premiere of his upcoming film Good Fortune, Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter, “I had the wonderful opportunity to work with her, and she was a very special artist and person. Very unique and just what a wonderful artist.”
The two first shared the screen in Nancy Meyers’ iconic 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give. In it, Keaton played playwright Erica Barry opposite Reeves’ young doctor Julian Mercer and Jack Nicholson’s Harry Sanborn. The film became one of Keaton’s most acclaimed performances, earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Reeves also reflected on the bond between Keaton and Nicholson, telling E! News, “It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history they shared and the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool.” He described Keaton as a “total pro” and “generous, generous artist,” adding that she was “very nice to me.”
Diane Keaton’s passing is the end of an era in Hollywood.
