Diddy apologized to the judge overseeing his case in a letter before his sentencing on Friday.
In the 4-page letter, obtained by Complex, the incarcerated mogul wrote to Judge Arun Subramanian that he takes “full responsibility and accountability” for his actions, expresses his remorse to those he’s hurt, and asks for mercy regarding his sentencing.
“First and foremost, I want to apologize and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct. I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs,” he wrote.
Diddy also apologized to Cassie Ventura and his ex-girlfriend—only identified during the trial as “Jane”—for hurting them.
“I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be. My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will have to forever carry,” he said to Cassie.
When speaking to Jane, he wrote, “Your honor, I thought I was providing for Jane concerning her and her child, but after hearing her testimony, I realized that I hurt her. For this I am deeply sorry.”
According to Diddy, his crimes were due to his “selfishness,” when he was “lost in the drugs and the excess.” He also claimed that spending the past year in prison has been rehabilitative for him. “There have been some days I thought I would be better off dead. The old me died in jail, and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you—I choose to live.”
In his letter, Diddy—who has been incarcerated since September 2024—requested leniency in his sentence so he can have “another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life.”
He added, “I ask you for mercy today, not only for my sake, but for the sake of my children.”
On Friday, Diddy is set to be sentenced for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, for which Subramanian can hand down a sentence of anything between time served and 20 years behind bars, the maximum allowed by law. The 55-year-old also plans to speak during his hearing.
While the prosecution wants Diddy to serve another 11 years in prison, his legal team is seeking time served.
