Time off for good behavior?
Sean “Diddy” Combs is getting sprung sooner rather than later.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, the rapper had his release date changed once again.
The 56-year-old fallen music star will walk out of New Jersey’s Fort Dix FCI on Feb. 23, 2028. Members of the public can look up his status in the public in the inmate database (Register Number: 37452-054).
Combs was originally sentenced to 50 months after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in July 2025. The “Last Night” singer was acquitted of more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
The sometimes Star Island resident began his stretch at the low‑security federal prison three months later, set to be freed May 8, 2028. In March, the BoP adjusted the release date to April 25 of that year.
So why have even more months been shaved off?
The change could reportedly be due to Combs’ participation in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) as well as his work helping out in the facility’s library.
Despite the good news, Combs’ legal team is still gunning for an appeal to get him out, stat. Lawyers continue to argue the punishment was too harsh and accused U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian of being the “13th juror.” They also contend that his so-called freak-offs, aka sex parties, should be protected under the First Amendment as consensual sexual performances, not criminal acts.
No decision has been handed down regarding the appeal, but one of his main attorneys Juda Engelmayer recently told UsWeekly the father of seven remains both optimistic and reflective.
He is “looking back at his life and trying to figure out ways to improve and be a better person,” Engelmayer said.
Once Combs is out, it’s not exactly all sunshine and rainbows. He’ll have to do five years of supervised release and pay a $500,000 fine.
