Digital Dream Entertainment Unleashes Over-the-Top Mutant Football League 2

With holiday breaks approaching, it’s prime time for college and NFL football — and for fans to hit the digital gridiron. Those seeking a break from the Madden series and a dose of humor in their sports games should look to Mutant Football League 2.

Serving as the next installment in the Mutant Football League series based on the classic Electronic Arts’ ‘90s Sega Genesis hits Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey, Mutant Football League 2 is available today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.

The game features hordes of Mutated Super-Humans, Monstrous Orcs, Skeletal Deadheads, and Armored BruiserBots facing off in 8-on-8 arcade-style football at various stadiums that are filled with deadly traps. It’s not a surprise that the studio behind this over-the-top take on football is Digital Dream Entertainment, a studio made up of those behind SSX on Tour, FIFA Street 2, Need for Speed: Pro-Street, and Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes.

In a press release statement, Michael Mendheim, Creative Director of Mutant Football League 2, said, “MFL2 is bigger, faster, and nastier than ever. We rebuilt the graphics, gave every player a unique badass look, and added full team and field creation — because why not let fans design their own field of screams?”

The game features 32 pro-league teams with names such as the Karcass City Creeps, Killadelphia Evils, and Blitzburgh Steelheads, and 4 minor league teams, the ability to design over the top fields in the Doom Field Designer, a franchise mode, and the iconic voice of NBA Jam conducting play-by-play commentary over the action, Tim Kitzrow.
