Dionne Warwick had more than a few words for Piers Morgan after the gossip-monger criticized Beyoncé’s new Levi’s campaign, accusing the superstar of “culturally appropriating” Marilyn Monroe.

The 84-year-old musical legend responded directly to Morgan’s Aug. 6 post on X (formerly Twitter), where he told his 8.9 million followers he was “very disappointed to see Beyoncé culturally appropriate Marilyn Monroe in her new Levi’s ad.”

Beyoncé’s spot leans into classic Americana—platinum-blonde curls, red lipstick, and vintage denim—echoing mid-century Hollywood glamour. Morgan’s message traveled quickly, pulling roughly 650,000 views and nearly 2,000 replies within hours as users debated the claim.

Warwick’s response cut through the chatter: “Getting involved in women’s business again, I see…” she wrote, a line that ricocheted across platforms and drew praise from fans.

As more replies rolled in, one follower said Morgan’s comments were “giving obsessed,” and Warwick signaled agreement. Morgan then tried to recast his critique as humor, replying to Warwick, “Oh not you too, Dionne… it was a JOKE!”

The flare-up arrived amid broader discourse around celebrity denim ads. Beyoncé’s Monroe-coded visuals landed while Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle spot was also trending, with some conservative voices arguing there was a double standard.

As of this writing, neither Beyoncé nor Levi’s had commented on Morgan’s posts, and the commercial continued to circulate online.

This isn’t the first time Morgan and Beyoncé’s fans have intersected.

In October 2024, after singer Jaguar Wright made allegations about Beyoncé and JAY-Z on Piers Morgan Uncensored, attorneys for the couple called the claims “totally false and without basis in fact” and demanded their removal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan complied, editing the segment and telling viewers, “Editing interviews is not something we do lightly on a show called Uncensored, but the legal limits apply to us as well—and we apologize to JAY-Z and Beyoncé.”
