This became a recurring theme. Not only did Zayah and Gamble show up multiple times in various places each night, so did the other talented performers. Members of the “Hercules” ensemble finished back-to-back shows only to change into pirate outfits and join the crew on the top deck for the “Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay” party. The house band that played in The Sanctum lounge was the featured pirate band for the dance party too. Having a live band playing classic rock standards like “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and then sliding effortlessly into Hans Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” score to back the fireworks at sea certainly elevates Disney Cruise Line’s traditional Pirates in the Caribbean party.

Another group pulling double-duty on board the Disney Destiny were the performers for “Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King.” This signature dinner show is backed by authentic African drummers who serve as the beating heart of the entire experience.

This musical group also headlined their own “Sounds of Wakanda” Grand Hall set that culminated with a grand entrance by King T’Challa, Black Panther. Later on, when I met Black Panther, I mentioned how I enjoyed the “Sounds of Wakanda” drummers, and T’Challa instantly explained how the different tribes of Wakanda use different drums and instruments. I was struck again at how this became another story thread connecting the “Lion King” one night with Black Panther days later, offering a heightened level of “meet & play” immersion.

Disney Cruise Line levels up its Disney Destiny live entertainment without getting rid of the traditional standards families have come to love. There are plenty of game shows and trivia contests giving you a chance to take home a medal. Multiple piano players host sing-alongs in De Vil’s, and there’s plenty of karaoke as well. The hero and villain programming exclusive to the Disney Destiny is in addition to all the live entertainment you know and love. These meet & play opportunities enhance the guest experience and allow you to step into the story and engage your family to make connections together.
