Debra OConnell, a longtime Disney business executive who has overseen the financial structures of many of the company’s best-known TV properties, has been named chairman of Disney’s entertainment-tv operations, a new role that makes her the central creative leader across the company’s U.S. broadcast, cable and streaming properties.
She will report to Dana Walden, who is set to take up new duties as Disney’s president and chief creative officer. OConnell will continue to supervise the operations of ABC News, which she has run since 2014.
