As expected from any park featured in Walt Disney World, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some of the most thrilling attractions in the entire theme park industry, whether looking at an age-old favorite like The Twilight Zone Terror or Tower or a newer attraction like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Nestled somewhere in the former category is Hollywood Studios’ fan-favorite Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, a fast-paced thrill ride centered around the legendary rock band of the same name.
More recently, however, Disney has shared plans to retheme the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to a brand-new facade, specifically looking to one of the company’s most beloved franchises for the new ride experience.
According to a press release from Disney, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will undergo a significant change for 2026, replacing Aerosmith with the eccentric characters of Jim Henson’s Muppets franchise.
The announcement was originally made in November of last year, coinciding with the news that Hollywood Studios’ long-running show, Muppet*Vision 3D, would be closing down to make room for the park’s new Monsters, Inc.-themed area.
Fortunately, with Disney’s latest press release, the company is sharing more details about the brand-new attraction, including a taste of what visitors might expect aboard the lightening-quick roller coaster.
“Thanks to new management under legendary Muppets tycoon and owner of The Muppet Theatre, J. P. Grosse, groovy vibes will take over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Courtyard including a new psychedelic wrap on the giant guitar marquee – complete with one gold key on the piano motif, a nod to a certain far-out band leader’s gold tooth,” the company teased.
“With the help of Muppet Labs and a really fast limousine, guests will take a screamingly fun trip across town while the sounds of Electric Mayhem playing iconic hits to keep the music and adrenaline pumping,” Disney continued.
Despite the new Muppets-themed experience set to open in 2026, no firm date has been set for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to undergo its refurbishment.
