Many pet parents have wondered what really happens after they walk out the front door. Do their dogs spend the day napping, or do they turn the house into their own personal playground? Movies like “The Secret Life of Pets” have playfully imagined the adventures pets embark on when no one is watching. As one Instagram video by @tunathesamoyed shows, that idea may not be as far-fetched as it seems.
Owner can’t believe what dog does when home alone
Tuna, a fluffy Samoyed, wastes no time once the house is empty. One of the first clips shows him racing through the rooms with a toy clenched firmly in his mouth. His bursts of energy send him darting from one area of the house to another, and in one particularly chaotic moment, he accidentally runs into a window while caught up in the excitement.
The energetic laps around the house are only part of the routine. Tuna is also shown breaking into what his owner jokingly describes as “opera.” The dog repeatedly howls into the air, seemingly putting on a performance for an audience of none.
Another segment reveals a surprisingly creative side. Tuna gathers pillows together and arranges them into a pile that resembles a small fort. After carefully positioning them, he settles into the collection as if trying to become part of it himself.
Despite all the playfulness, Tuna also seems to take his role as household guardian seriously. Several clips show him staring intently out a window, monitoring activity outside, and keeping watch over the property. The vigilance, however, is usually short-lived before another round of zoomies takes over.
The video also captures him throwing a squishmallow toy across the living room, tumbling over himself during high-speed turns, and even bumping into a lamp while running around. More than once, he loses his balance completely and ends up sprawled on his back before quickly getting up and continuing his adventures. Reflecting on the footage, Tuna’s owner admitted in the caption that she “wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t on camera.”
Viewers found the clips just as entertaining. “There’s no doubt that he enjoys his own company,” one person wrote. Another joked, “I bet this was in the course of like 45 minutes.” Others pointed out that many owners would never know what their dogs are really doing during the day. “Without the camera you’d think they just sit around and sleep,” one commenter said. For Tuna, being home alone doesn’t seem to mean boredom. If anything, the footage suggests it’s his chance to put on a one-dog show.
