Doja Cat thinks stars should retain some mystery about their lives

Doja Cat has urged fellow celebrities to “shut the f*** up”.

The Paint the Town Red singer insisted stars should adopt “more mystique” and share less of their personal lives with fans if they want to stay successful in the long term.

In a now-deleted video on TikTok, Doja said: “If you’re a celebrity, shut the f*** up. Nobody wants to hear your f****** s***.

“Be mysterious. Stop letting people in on your life.

“Have more mystique. The more they see of you, the less they’ll want.”

The 30-year-old star previously insisted she doesn’t want to make music just to chase success and would rather focus on the quality of her songs than how many records she sells.

She told V Magazine: “What I want to avoid is that little monster that just wants success.

“I want to focus more on: How does the mix sound? Do I even need these instruments here? Do I need to recut this verse?

“It’s how things sound that makes the music worth listening to.

“I would not be an artist if I didn’t care, right?

“If for any reason a project of mine does a little less good than the last one, I don’t want to be up in arms and upset about it. I want to embrace that.”

Doja – whose real name is Amala Diamini – also admitted she is “surprised” by her vocal ability nowadays, insisting she “could not sing” before.

She added: “Sometimes I’m surprised by what I can do now, because I could not f***ing sing.

“I have a lot more knowledge of how to use my voice as an instrument, more than I ever have in my life.”

The Say So hitmaker released her fifth album, Vie, last September and had to defend the record against criticism of the artwork, which featured her hanging from a parachute stuck in a tree.

Debuting the image on Instagram days before the record’s release, she wrote: “Falling in love is putting trust in the hands of yourself and others. The yellow parachute represents curiosity, happiness, and adventure. Flying you towards new experiences and scenes, taking a leap of faith, and holding no bounds. The tree represents life and wisdom. Giving you a sense of safety within its branches, but the pain from the fall teaches you that those scratches can be healed. You don’t have to hit the ground. Love grows upward but more importantly down. It’s the roots that keep you steady. This is the cover of my album.”

And Doja refused to let anyone make her “feel bad” for a cover with deep meaning behind it.

Reacting to the critics of the cover on X, Doja penned: “You can’t make me feel bad for a cover that has visceral meaning. The greatest armor is love and integrity. I forgive your harsh criticism but for me I won yet again for following my heart. If I was you I wouldn’t.(sic)”
