Dolly Parton is postponing her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency due to medical concerns.
The 79-year-old country music legend, who was set to light up The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December, shared on social media Sunday that she has been dealing with some “health challenges” and was told by doctors she has to undergo “a few procedures.”
Parton didn’t offer further details, but she was recently sidelined by a kidney stone that caused an infection. Tickets for the six-day residency sold out in 90 minutes.
Parton handled the situation with her trademark sense of humor, joking that “it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,” Parton wrote. “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
The Tennessee native said that she will still be able to work on all of her “projects” from her home in Nashville, she just needs “a little time to get show ready, as they say.”
Parton, who lost her husband of 59 years back in March, concluded her statement by assuaging fans’ fears.
“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” Parton said. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
Get well soon, Dolly!
