- Downtown Columbus Inc. has announced more than 200 events for its upcoming season, including concerts, movies and fitness classes.
- New attractions include a weekly farmers market, eight pickleball courts and an “Art in the Park” series.

Free concerts, movie nights, festivals, fitness classes and other activities make up an iota of what Downtown Columbus Inc. has slated for its next season.
More than 200 events will give central Ohioans their pick of popular returnees such as the Local & Live concert series and the Common Ground Concert and new options like a farmers market.
The season will begin on a sweet note when Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams opens at 11 a.m. April 20 at John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons. Tortilla Street Food and the carousel will open at the same time.
In addition to the Commons, events will take place in Bicentennial Park and other sites around Downtown.
Below is a look at what’s new, what’s coming to the Scioto Mile and the Common Ground Concert featuring Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers.
New attractions
Shoppers can pick up fresh produce and local goods at the Downtown Columbus Farmers Market, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Thursday from May 7-Sept. 24 at the Commons.
Passionate about pickleball? Eight new courts are set to open at a date to be announced this summer at Belle and Chapel streets for free play.
Learn a new craft every month during “Art in the Park” at Topiary Garden in Deaf School Park. Activities including terrarium building, painting and more will be offered from 1-3 p.m. on the last Sunday of each month, June through September.
Disco is back and it’s bigger than before! The one-time silent disco has been expanded to a series. Events will be held from 6-8 p.m. May 28 at Topiary Garden in Deaf School Park; July 23 in the Lazarus Building Galleria; and Sept. 3 at 88 High Water Alley.
Splash into summer early
The Scioto Mile Fountain in Bicentennial Park will be swimming with activity on May 22, when it opens for the season. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Sept. 7, with a sensory-friendly hour from 11 a.m. to noon.
Following opening day, Fountain Fest will kick off summer from noon to 4 p.m. May 23, with food trucks, music, live performances, and art.
In other aquatic offerings, enjoy kayaking from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 11-12, launching under the Main Street bridge near Bicentennial Park. Demand is expected to be high; first-come, first-served.
Hornsby to make some noise
This year’s headliner is known for several hits with his band, The Range, including “The Way It Is,” “Mandolin Rain,” “The Valley Road,” and “Across the River.”
He’s had a thriving solo career, many collaborations and was a touring member of the Grateful Dead for 18 months.
Now, with his touring band, the Noisemakers, Bruce Hornsby will come to the Commons on Aug. 15. Presented in partnership with Columbus Association for the Performing Arts, the show will be free to attend, but tickets will be required.
Tickets will be released online at 10 a.m. July 15. Newsletter subscribers are eligible for the early ticket release on July 14.
