Drayton Farley Announces New Album “A Heavy Duty Heart”

Declared a favorite modern songwriter by distinguishing music fans, Drayton Farley has taken inspiration from fellow Alabaman songwriters like Jason Isbell and amassed a song catalog that is the envy of many. When he released his acoustic album A Hard Up Life in 2021 and it blew up like few expected, he helped light the spark of earnest, heartfelt roots rock singer songwriters that have brought soul back into the American music diet.

A Heavy Duty Heart will be Drayton Farley’s latest album, set for release on March 17th via One Riot Records. Recorded live to tape in Nashville with Drayton’s touring band, it will be produced once again by Sadler Vaden, best known as the guitar player for Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit. A new song “I’ll Hold You” accompanies the album announcement (listen below).

“These songs mean a lot to me, top to bottom they’re all true to life and from the heart,” Farley says. “A few of them really tested me, a few of them feel like they just ran my way, and one of them I spent over a decade running away from. In the end, I couldn’t love them more and I hope you’ll love them too.”

Drayton Farley’s been enjoying national exposure recently through the soundtrack of the hit streaming show Landman on Paramount+. Along with the standalone single “Touch and Go” co-written by Dani Rose and Sunny Sweeney that appeared on Episode 13 (11-30), he also premiered the song “It’s Called Doubt” on Episode 16 (12-21), which will be on the new album.

Honesty is what Drayton Farley credits with his connection with audiences. “I feel like if you’re going to write about yourself and your life, then just write about the way it is,” Farley says. “That honesty is going to translate. People are going to know when you’re bullshitting them or not.”

Drayton Farley is also expected to go on tour in 2026 to support the new album, but is also planning an intimate show at Nashville’s Skinny Dennis on the March 27th release date. A Heavy Duty Heart is now available for preorder/presave.
