Drew Barrymore has sold her 18th-century mansion in Westchester County, New York, for $4.5 million, after just two years of ownership. The sale closed Monday.
The actress bought the Colonial house in Harrison for $4.4 million in 2024 and listed it in March for $4.995 million with Kori Sassower of Compass, who also represented the buyer in the transaction.
“Drew was very excited to sell it to the buyers, who are coming from the city,” Sassower said. “They plan to use it as she used it, as an escape from the city. “
Barrymore, 51, had been looking for an alternative to the Hamptons for a weekend getaway in 2024 when she came across the rambling house, and felt a familial and spiritual connection, she told The Wall Street Journal when she listed it.
Built in 1748, the 7,274-square-foot mansion required more work than Barrymore initially envisioned, so the family spent the next two years giving it a makeover. “Between Pinterest, thrifting and a can of paint, there’s nothing you can’t do,” Barrymore joked in her interview with the Journal.
“She made it pretty but she did a lot of the guts of the house, too,” Sassower said. “The buyers that got it really appreciated the work that Drew did, and her aesthetic was really their aesthetic.”
The home features six bedrooms, an updated kitchen, a great room with 30-foot ceilings, an octagonal sunroom and period details like wood-beamed ceilings and brick fireplaces. It’s located on a nearly 12-acre estate with wooded lots, wildflower-filled gardens and green vistas. There’s a gunite pool and a pool house with a kitchen and spa, as well as a separate guest cottage, according to the listing.
The property is less than an hour from Manhattan, where Barrymore is based with her two daughters. It is also divided into five lots, so the buyer has the option of selling off or developing the additional parcels.
Barrymore’s decades-long career started as a child, where she famously appeared in the 1982 hit “E.T.” Her other credits include “Charlie’s Angels,” “Grey Gardens” and “50 First Dates,” as well as her own talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show,” which debuted in 2020. A representative for the actress did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The buyer couldn’t be further identified as the records were not yet recorded publicly.
