Jan Ravnik is looking back fondly on his time on Dancing With the Stars. One week after he and celebrity partner Jennifer Affleck were eliminated from the ABC ballroom competition, the Slovenian-born professional dancer posted photos from their partnership to Instagram. Ravnik, 30, captioned the post to thank fans for the “incredible” experience during his first season on the show.
“What an unforgettable 7 weeks on @dancingwiththestars ! 🪩💫” Ravnik wrote on Nov. 3. “Thank you all so much for every vote. I’m beyond grateful for this incredible journey with @jenniferlaffleck 🙏🏼❤️.”
Affleck responded to the post with, “The best partnership this season in my opinion 👀 thank you for making the experience unforgettable ❤️ .”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star’s husband, Zac, also thanked Ravnik. “Jan, you’re an incredible dude! Thank you for all you did and making this so special for Jen!” he wrote.
Ravnik also received love from fellow DWTS pros, including ousted Season 34 dancer Gleb Savchenko, who posted a series of heart emoji.
“Crushed it, brother CONGRATULATIONS 👏👏👏👏 wrote pro dancer Sasha Farber.
“You guys are SO amazing! I can’t even tell you how much me and Andy [Richter] miss you at the studio!!!!! Congratulations both of you on such a powerful and memorable season 😍,” added dancer Emma Slater.
Ravnik had an instant fan base when he was cast as a pro on the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars earlier this year. Many fans recognized him as a backup dancer from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. But he also faced harsh criticism from past pro dancers.
Days before Ravnik and Affleck were eliminated from the competition, veteran pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy said on The Penthouse With Peta podcast that Ravnik had “no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars” because he had “zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership.”
OG DWTS pro Louis van Amstel backed Chmerkovskiy’s comments, telling Us Weekly that Ravnik had “no ballroom experience and no teaching experience in ballroom dancing.”
Both men noted that their comments were nothing against Ravnik as a person, and Chmerkovskiy even apologized to the DWTS newcomer.
As for Ravnik’s future on Dancing With the Stars, in a post-elimination TikTok Live, he said he can’t speak about something that is “one year ahead.”
“It’s not that I’m not gonna do it or I don’t want to do it, but I don’t know what’s going to happen in a year,” he said in the clip, reposted to Reddit. “Also they’re not deciding that now. …They’re gonna decide who’s gonna do it maybe two months ahead or sometimes even one month ahead of the show.”
“So we’ll see next year when they’re reaching out, what I’m doing,” Ravnik added.
