Dancing With the Stars champion Xochitl Gomez has just announced a major career move, revealing that she’s joining the cast of the new police procedural drama Boston Blue as a recurring guest star.
The 19-year-old actress will make her debut on the episode of Boston Blue premiering on Nov. 21 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS. In the show, the former Dancing With the Stars contestant will be starring as the character Penny, who has been teased to be a quick-witted, charming young woman who captures the romantic interest of Sean Reagan (played by actor Mika Amonsen).
This career update comes after Xochitl won over the hearts of viewers on season 32 of DWTS and was crowned the second-youngest competitor to ever win the Mirrorball Trophy. During the season, Xochitl was paired with professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, who is currently competing on the show with TikToker Alix Earle.
On Boston Blue, Xochitl will join a talented cast that includes Donnie Wahlberg, Maggie Lawson, Gloria Reuben, Mika Amonsen, Marcus Scribner, and Ernie Hudson, among others.
Xochitl announced the exciting news on her Instagram, where she shared a screenshot of a Deadline article along with the caption, “Mark ur calendars – November 21st, so happy to be part of @bostonbluecbs [blue heart emoji].”
The creator of the show, Brandon Margolis, also took to the comment section as he commented, “Yesssss [fire emoji].” To which Xochitl replied, “thank you for the opportunity to play Penny. So excited to bring this character to life.”
Boston Blue is a spin-off of the series Blue Bloods, and focuses on the character Danny Reagan and his decision to take a position with the Boston Police Department. The official IMDb synopsis of the series reads, “Danny Reagan joins Boston PD from NYPD and partners with Detective Lena Peters, the oldest daughter of a notable Boston law enforcement family.”
Despite her young age, this is not her first role. The talented Hollywood star also previously appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), The Baby-Sitters Club (2020-2021), Shadow Wolves (2019), and numerous other short films.
In addition to her upcoming appearance in Boston Blue, she has also been confirmed to be starring in The Cat in the Hat (2026), Ursa Major (2026), Avengers: Doomsday (2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).
