Events throughout the Adirondacks this week include Earth Day activities, live music, theatre and more.
Local Theater at the Old Forge Library
5:30 p.m. on April 16 in Old Forge
The Old Forge Library presents local productions of “The Woman Who Remembered Everything” and “Moose TV.” This event is free and open to the public.
Written and directed by Ken Carman, the performances feature a local cast including David Beck, Ken Carman, Millie Carman, Connor Crill, Daniel Kiefer-Bach, Ellen Hunt and Claire Jenny, along with a few surprise appearances from a supporting cast of puppets.
Carman brings a rich and varied background as an entertainer, educational service provider, recording engineer and editor. Originally from Big Moose, he spent years living and working in Nashville before returning to the Adirondacks where he continues to share his passion for the arts.
Poem Village at Downtown Artist Cellar
7 p.m. on April 16 at DAC in Malone
The Downtown Artist Cellar (DAC) invites the community to celebrate National Poetry Month with Poem Village, a special evening of poetry.
Poets who submitted work to the Poem Village Project are invited to participate as featured readers, sharing their submitted poem along with up to three additional pieces. An open mic will follow, welcoming all voices—whether you participated in Poem Village this year or simply feel called to share your work.
As part of this regional initiative, Poem Village installations can be viewed throughout the community. In Malone, poems are on display at Nationwide Insurance, Nelson’s Flower Shop and Café Nouveau. Additional installations can be found in the Salmon River and Akwesasne communities, including East End and Twin Leaf locations, as well as Bear’s Den. Poems are also installed across St. Lawrence County and in Saranac Lake.
This event is free and open to all.
Loon Zoom: Year in review
7-8 p.m. on April 16, online via Zoom
To round out this year’s Loon Zoom series, ACLC Research Biologist Griffin Archambault will offer a year in review and a look forward to what’s in store for ACLC and Adirondack loons in 2026.
Loon Zooms cost $10 to register. Loon Zooms are virtual events. Links will be emailed the day before the presentation. Recordings of the presentation will be sent out the day after the presentation to anyone registered.
Play reading at the Recovery Lounge
7-9 p.m. on April 16 at the Upper Jay Art Center
The Recovery Lounge and Upper Jay Art Center will host a reading of an unpublished screenplay about the death of Walt Disney by Lucas Hnath. This black comedy dives into the strange history of the man who created the “happiest place on Earth.”

Adirondack Winery anniversary tasting celebration
April 17-19 at Adirondack Winery in Lake George and Queensbury
Founded on April 17, 2008, Adirondack Winery has grown from a small Lake George tasting room into one of New York’s most recognized craft wineries, now producing more than 35 wines and welcoming guests at both its flagship Lake George Tasting Room and its Queensbury headquarters and Restobar. This April, the winery will celebrate its 18th anniversary with a special tasting experience, the relaunch of beloved seasonal favorites, a packed lineup of events and exciting new improvements for guests both online and in person.
The Hyde Collection 35th annual High School Juried Show
April 18-May 17 at the Hyde in Glens Falls
The Hyde Collection is thrilled to announce the return of the annual High School Juried Show for its 35th anniversary. This spring exhibition serves as a platform for budding student artists across Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton and Essex counties to showcase their talent and immerse themselves in a professional, competitive arts environment.
This year, the museum received more than 440 artwork submissions from 275 students representing 18 regional schools.
The Grange concert: Paper Wings

More gorgeous vocal harmonies coming up from
The Grange presents Emily Mann and Wila Frank, known together as Paper Wings. The Nashville-based duo dream up warm, pastoral folk songs on banjo, fiddle and guitar, with spellbinding vocals so close you often can’t tell their voices apart.

Free April presentations on local history, social issues
The Clinton Community College Cultural Affairs Committee will host Ita Bullard, artist and documentary filmmaker, for a presentation: “Common Law Marriage Misconceptions.”
Bullard’s program will examine widespread misunderstandings surrounding common law marriage and how legal systems often fail to recognize women’s labor and contributions within long-term partnerships. The presentation draws on themes explored in the recent Mountain Lake PBS documentary “Ita,” which chronicles Bullard’s life as a Jewish artist who survived the Holocaust while hiding in France.
The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff and members of the public.
Earth Day at Old Forge Library
5 p.m. on April 22 in Old Forge
The Old Forge Library will host Earth Day activities including paper making from recycled paper and seed starting in partnership with the Cornell Cooperative Extension and Webb Community Garden.
All ages are welcome. Materials will be provided.
