For a long while now, it has been impossible to switch on the TV without being confronted by the sight of increasingly minor celebrities baking, dancing, swimming with sharks, looking for ghosts, eating camel penises while Ant and Dec look on giggling, or even being hunted through the jungle by Bear Grylls – no, really, that did happen, it wasn’t a fever dream.
The return of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins (Channel 4, Sunday, 9pm) for a seventh season suggests that there is no end in sight to the phenomenon.
