Ella Langley is currently working on her highly-anticipated sophomore album, and she recently revealed that she’s teaming up with a country superstar to do so. During one of her two sold-out concerts at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in November, Langley revealed that Miranda Lambert will serve as the executive producer on her upcoming project.
Speaking to the crowd, Langley revealed that her new album will arrive next year and that she’s “never been more excited to show a collection of songs to people,” sharing that she’s “so proud of” her new album and “so excited” for fans to hear it. The Alabama native then broke the news about Lambert executive producing her next album, sharing that the “Kerosene” singer is “a big part of this next record.”
Calling Lambert “one of my heroes,” Langley gushed, “Y’all can’t act like all my dreams aren’t coming true right now because it feels that way. It really does. It really does.” She further revealed that she had a feeling Lambert might play a part in her career, saying, “I don’t know, I just had this weird feeling that one day I’d get advice from her and Lord, it’s crazy.”
Langley had previously teased Lambert’s part in the album during a different show, telling the crowd, “we’re definitely doing something really cool together that is more than just the songs.”
Fans have already heard some of Langley and Lambert’s work, as the two co-wrote Langley’s latest single, “Choosin’ Texas,” with Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. Langley told fans at the Ryman that writing “Choosin’ Texas” “really started” Lambert’s work on her new album.
Sharing some insight into the writing process behind “Choosin’ Texas” during her Nashville show, Langley revealed that the group was at a writers’ retreat and had already penned one song together. “I think we were going to have a snack. But before we had a snack, I needed to ask her a question about something,” she recalled. “[Lambert] had some kangaroos at one time. And anything, one thing led to the other, and she said something about having Texas plates on her car. And for some reason I was like, ‘Well, she’s probably like she’s from Texas, I can tell.’”
“She’s from Texas, I can tell” is the opening line to the song’s chorus, and Langley recalled immediately hearing the words and melody in her mind after Lambert spoke. “And just from that little bit, my brain never turns off. Most songwriter’s brains don’t,” she said. “Just from that little bit, I went, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way / he’s two stepping ’round the room.’ And Miranda went, ‘Like that b— who didn’t win.’ I’m like, that’s exactly what the song is about.”
The group wrote “Choosin’ Texas” in “about 45 minutes” and it’s now the first single from Langley’s sophomore album. The track is already seeing success, recently becoming the fastest solo female song to reach the Top 10 at country radio this decade, just about two months after its October 17 release.
In November, Langley performed “Choosin’ Texas” at the 2025 CMA Awards, where she was nominated for six trophies. She took home three awards, including Song of the Year, Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year — all for her duet with Riley Green, “you look like you love me.”
