Fallout actress Ella Purnell is joining forces with comedian Pete Davidson for a new romantic comedy movie. Titled That Time We Met, the film centers on two strangers whose terrible first date takes an unexpected turn when they learn their future child is destined to save humanity. The film brings together fresh pairing from Hollywood, sparking anticipation.

Ella Purnell and Pete Davidson are set to lead That Time We Met, an upcoming romantic comedy movie.
The film is directed by Theater Camp filmmaker Nick Lieberman and written by Mitchell Winkie. It is described as “cosmic” love story with an unexpected twist. It follows a new couple whose first date takes a dramatic turn when they find out that their unborn child is fated to protect humanity. However, after their disastrous date, the two find themselves already at odds with one another (via Deadline).
The film will be produced by Matt Jackson and Joanne Lee of Jackson Pictures, Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, and Katie McNicol of Marc Platt Productions, and Ford Corbett and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media.
Gramercy’s Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano are on board as executive producers. WME Independent will handle global sales, with the project set to be showcased at the upcoming American Film Market.
For Purnell, That Time We Met marks her first leading role in a romantic comedy. It follows her acclaimed performances in Yellowjackets and Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout, which returns for its second season in December 2025.
Meanwhile, Davidson, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, will next appear in How to Rob a Bank. It is directed by David Leitch and set for release in September 2026.
With its unusual plot and dynamic cast, the film is already building anticipation amongst audiences.
