Golden Globes 2026: What Dakota Fanning Promised Elle Fanning Before ‘The Nightingale’
Elle Fanning will not be caged by her older sister Dakota Fanning.
In fact, the 27-year-old said Dakota, 31, vowed to limit their sibling banter on the set of their upcoming movie The Nightingale, a screen adaptation of Kristin Hannah‘s 2015 novel of the same name.
“She promised me that she’s not gonna boss me around,” Elle told E! News’ Zuri Hall at the 2026 Golden Globes on Jan. 11. “I’m like, ‘You have to treat me like a fellow actor.'”
But, according to Dakota, there are stipulations to her promise. When Zuri asked the All Her Fault actress about the promise during Live From E!: Golden Globes 2026, Dakota joked that Elle needs to not “annoy me too much.”
The Nightingale will be the Fannings’ first movie together playing sisters. Centered around two siblings navigating the dangers of a Nazi-occupied France during World War II, the drama is set to hit theaters Feb.12, 2027.
“It’s taken a couple years in the making,” Elle, who will also produce the film with her sister, told Zuri on the Golden Globes red carpet, “but we are finally really doing it this time.”
