Elton John has expressed his admiration for husband David Furnish following the entertainment executive’s recognition at the top of a prestigious international ranking celebrating LGBTQ+ leaders making a difference.
The Rocket Man icon voiced his support after Furnish secured the #1 position on INvolve People’s 2025 Outstanding Executives Role Model List, which honors individuals promoting inclusion and equality in professional environments.
Elton shared a touching tribute on social media, stating: “A thoroughly deserved recognition for @davidfurnish.”
Furnish, who manages Elton’s career while also serving as Chair of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and CEO at Rocket Entertainment, expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment – especially as it spotlighted the foundation’s CEO, Anne Aslett, as well.
He commented: “I’m honoured to be featured #1 on @involve.people’s 2025 Outstanding Executives Role Model List, alongside incredible changemakers – including @ejaf’s CEO, @anneaslett, who has been recognised on the Advocates Role Model List.
The foundation noted that David has featured on the list for the tenth consecutive year, this time securing the number one position, while Anne Aslett has earned recognition for the fourth successive year, placing in the top five of the Advocates Role Model List.
The organization, which ranks among the globe’s largest charitable supporters of HIV programs for LGBTQ+ communities, acknowledged the duo for advancing its goal “to ensure everyone can live healthy lives, free from fear.”
Elton John recently honored Brian Wilson with a performance of God Only Knows at the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
The yearly event took place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, with Jack and Meg White among those being inducted, alongside musicians including OutKast, Soundgarden, Cyndi Lauper, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, and Joe Cocker.
During one segment of the evening, the Rock Hall honored Wilson, who passed away in June at the age of 82 from respiratory arrest.
Prior to performing his rendition of the Pet Sounds classic, John took the stage and recounted several moments he’d experienced with the late artist throughout the years, including their initial meeting in Los Angeles.
“We were scared shitless because he was my idol. He was the one who influenced me more than anybody else when it came to writing songs on the piano. It was an evening we would never forget,” he said.
“Meeting someone who was a true genius doesn’t happen very often.”
