Elton John just gave his fans quite the scare after a photo in the hospital had people speculating.
On Friday, September 12, the iconic musician took to Instagram to share a series of photos of him wearing a gown in what appears to be a hospital. The first photo showed him with bedazzled casts on his legs and a neck brace while laying in a bed surrounded by people.
“Rocked too hard… ended up in a cast! Backstage with Spinal Tap,” Elton shared in his caption. “The new film, Spinal Tap II, and album are out today, featuring me on ‘Listen To The Flower People’ and ‘Stonehenge’. Thanks for having me be a part of it!” Other photos in the round-up showed a behind the scenes look at the production, including a white board with procedures written, a look through a viewfinder, as well as close-up of the bedazzled casts Elton wore on his legs.
It’s safe to say the pics riled up the internet, who sounded off in the comments.
“ELTON DONT SCARE US LIKE THAT,” one fan demanded.
Another shared, “I’m at the airport and my heart sank so quickly JESUS.”
After others jumped in — who presumably didn’t read the caption and thought the “Rocketman” singer was ill — some clarified the situation.
“PEOPLE…..he is not actually in the hospital? Did nobody actually read the post and see ALL the photos? It’s him filming the movie!” one pointed out.
Another jabbed, “Not people not knowing how to read. Absolutely fabulous.”
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues premieres in theaters Friday, September 12, with Elton joining a stacked list of guest stars including Paul McCartney, Metallica’sLars Ulrich, and Questlove. Alongside the returning trio of Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer, the film leans into its legacy with cameos from some of the biggest names in music. More than 40 years after the original became a cult classic, the sequel brings rock’s greatest parody band back into the spotlight for a new generation of fans.
Fans can watch Spinal Tap II in theaters on Friday, September 12.
