Downtown Atlanta has no shortage of theaters and venues to appreciate every medium of the arts. But a neighboring city in DeKalb County may be giving Atlanta a run for its money when it comes to enjoying art and entertainment.
Tucker, approximately a 30-minute drive northeast of Atlanta, has recently taken off as a hub for the arts with multiple theaters and entertainment spaces opening since the start of 2026, as well as the city launching a public art fund to invest in creative work in public spaces.
Most recently, the city hosted ribbon-cutting ceremonies for The Brio Theater, a multi-use performing arts and creative hub located at 4445 Hugh Howell Road; as well as Londzell Performing Arts Theatre in a 30,000-square-foot building on Lavista Road.
Both theaters are promising not only for arts and entertainment, but new opportunities for the area by attracting folks who may normally drive to Atlanta for concerts and other live events.
Tucker’s new public art fund is also aimed at drawing local artists to the community to make the city more visually appealing through projects such as murals, sculptures, and more.
Tucker’s investment in the arts is a wise one, providing a richer experience for residents who live in the city as well as drawing in folks who would otherwise be spending twice (or more) the amount of money to enjoy entertainment in downtown Atlanta.
