Actress Lily Collins addressed the news to fans in an emotional Instagram video.
The hit series is currently filming season 6, which will take place in Greece and Monaco.
It looks like our time in Europe is coming to an end.
When Emily in Paris premiered on Netflix in 2020, fans loved watching an American marketing executive move to Paris for her dream job. As she rose up the ranks at her French advertising firm, she also experienced love, heartbreak, and friendship.
While Emily in Paris has developed a legion of followers over the years, there’s something major in store for the show’s future. As Netflix announced on Instagram on May 21, Emily in Paris will officially end after season 6.
Lily Collins, who plays Emily Cooper, the titular character, spoke out about the surprise shakeup.
“Hey, it’s Lily,” she stated in the video clip. “I just wanted to share something with you all. After six unforgettable years of playing Emily Cooper, I’m here to share that this upcoming sixth season will be our final.”
“Season six will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime,” she added. “Our entire cast and crew are pouring our hearts into making this a fantastic farewell season, which we’re now filming. I can’t wait for all of the magic ahead, and to celebrate our final season with you in the most chic way yet. We’re so incredibly grateful and we love you all. A bientot!”
As soon as viewers learned the show’s fate, they shared their sadness in the comments.
“I’m so sad!!! This show is so good!! Not ready to say goodbye,” one person lamented in the comments. “Noooo 😭😭😭 I would have watched 20 seasons 🥺,” another cried out. “Nooooo I’m devastated 😭 my favorite show. Need at least 20 episodes in this season if it’s going to be our last,” a different follower added.
Thankfully, there’s still some time before we see Emily, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Mindy Chen (Aashley Park), and the rest grace our screens for the last time.
Netflix shared that Emily in Paris season 6 will be filmed in both Greece and Monaco. Fans will see Emily explore her relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) in Italy, all while missing her home in Paris.
