As Severance and The Studio seek to deliver Apple TV+ its first-ever double Emmy win for Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series, another guild is throwing some awards love their way. On Saturday, the MacGuffin Awards — presented by the Property Masters Guild — recognized Severance’s property master Catherine Miller with the One-Hour Contemporary Television Series award. Meanwhile, The Studio’s property master Andrew M. Siegel took home the MacGuffin for Half-Hour Single Camera Television Series.
Held at Hollywood’s Paramount Theater, the ceremony, now in its second year, honors the key role that props — and the people in charge of them — play in building a convincing onscreen reality. “The MacGuffin Awards recognize the talent, precision and problem-solving that Property Masters contribute to productions,” guild cochairs Theresa Corvino, Brad Elliott, and Lauren Shell said in a statement provided to Gold Derby. “Their work is essential to creating worlds audiences believe in and remember.”

That emphasis on voincing world-building is particularly true in the fantastical realm of science-fiction and fantasy productions. Accordingly, Dune: Part Two’s Douglas Harlocker received the MacGuffin for Fantasy/Science Fiction Film, Fallout’s team of Michael Jortner and Peter Gelfman were recognized with the equivalent television award for the Prime Video series. In the period realm, Dean Eilertson won for Season 1 of FX’s blockbuster Shōgun series and Michael Jortner was recognized for recreating ’60s-era New York City in the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
