‘Calypso Nights’

The Humboldt Folklife Society and Dell’Arte will present “Calypso Nights,” an evening of Caribbean music, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Carlo Theatre in Blue Lake. Doors open a half hour before the show.

This concert showcases players of all ages — from elementary, middle, high school and college students to professional musicians — all united through the joyful rhythms of steel pan. Showcased groups include Blue Dragon Steel Band featuring students from Blue Lake and Trinidad; Arcata High Steel Pan Club, an after-school program supported by the Arcata Arts Institute; Redwood Steel Band, a community ensemble that keeps skills sharp between school sessions; and the Humboldt Calypso Band, anchoring the evening with a seasoned performance.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit dellarte.com/onstage/. Tickets are also available at the door. General admission is $15 and $10 for Humboldt Folklife Society members. The Carlo Theatre is located at 131 H St., Blue Lake.
