When you look back at 2025 for singer-songwriter Erin Gibney, you might reflect that it was a pretty important year for her. It’s been a productive period of reinvention for the young artist, as she releases her latest single for the year, “Risk It,” via Rock Ridge Music. “This song was so much fun for me to write. It is the first love song I have written in years and really describes the combination of fear and excitement I felt when entering a new relationship. When I met my now-boyfriend, I remember swearing I would not get into another relationship for years. I had been heartbroken a year before and truly felt like the risk of love wasn’t worth going through what I went through again. However, after our first date, I knew that he wasn’t someone I could easily walk away from. I started to lean into the idea of love again and have been with him for two years now.
“I wrote this song with Kipp Williams during our first-ever write together. I immediately knew that we had something special from the very beginning stages of this song. The lyrics and production came together so seamlessly for us, and it was the beginning of an entire project we spent the spring working on. I love this song so much and am so excited to bring something this fresh and new into my catalogue. Creating this music, promoting it, and sharing it has been such a fun experience already, and I can’t wait to release the full song into the world!”
Gibney plans to release a string of new singles that are more musically expansive and satisfying to her. A new single titled “Dangerous” will really see her branching out. Another new one called “Baggage” will be a tribute to supportive friends. Like with “Risk It,” Gibney collaborated closely with Kipp Williams on them. The common fabric within these songs and her other recent singles is that they are all very personal to Gibney. They are very open and candid, with Gibney touching on some difficult times in her life. She is proud of the way these songs were written, and with each passing day, writing these songs felt more and more genuine to her. She felt reassured that she was doing the right thing.
