Sean Dyche says Nottingham Forest will continue to pursue ‘two or three’ targets before the transfer deadline and says the priority is to strengthen at full back and in midfield.
Forest had been keen to add another forward, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jorgen Strand Larsen having been high on their shortlist and the club making a £35million bid for the Crystal Palace forward.
But Mateta is set to join AC Milan, while Palace are working to sign Strand Larsen from Wolves as his replacement.
“I think the squad in general has been good. There has been noise about (adding players) up front, but then all of a sudden T (Awoniyi) pops up with a goal (against Brentford) and reminds us that he is capable,” said Dyche in his post-match press conference, following the 1-1 draw with Palace at the City Ground.
“Then we have had big (Lorenzo) Lucca come in as well (on loan from Napoli). In different areas of the pitch, left back is somewhere we can look at. It is the same in midfield, to bolster it up, because we have a lot of games coming up.
“There are varying things. We have been linked with loads of players. We will see what happens. There are two or three I am aware of, but that does not mean we are going to get them. It does not mean we are going to sign all of them, either.”
Dyche does not expect the club to sell any of their key figures before Monday’s deadline.
“It is highly unlikely (that anyone will leave) unless it is our decision. I think we have control of that,” he added.
Forest have also confirmed the end of Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan spell at the City ground, with the defender returning to Arsenal ahead of an expected move to Ajax.
