The Met Gala–known as the biggest night in fashion- is once again upon us, and the night is sure to once again be a massive success.
The annual invitation-only fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is known for its outrageous looks celebrities sport as they walk into the venue, in an effort to play up the various themes.
The exclusive event, which fans rarely get to see the inside of due to strict decorum rules at the door, is run by former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and by celebrities who serve as co-chairs.
Here’s everything to know about the 2026 event:
What is this year’s theme?
The 2026 theme is “Costume Art,” which celebrates the intersection of fashion, sculpture, and the dressed body across 5,000 years of history, pairing historical and contemporary garments with art objects.
The exhibit is set to highlight thematic body types, including the “Naked Body,” “Classical Body,” and “Aging Body,” to bridge the gap between art and fashion, according to a Vogue article.
The official dress code is “Fashion Is Art,” which invites guests to explore their personal relationship with fashion as a creative and wearable art form.
Who are this year’s co-chairs?
Anna Wintour is always the primary chair of the event each year, but rotates through several different celebrities who serve as her co-chairs year after year.
The 2026 co-chairs are Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos serving as honorary co-chairs. Zoe Kravitz and Anthony Vaccarello will serve as the host committee leaders.
Beyonce previously served as a co-chair for 2016’s Manus x Machina event, while Kidman served as a co-chair in both 2003 and 2005. This will mark Williams’ first time as a co-chair.
Who is on the guest list?
While the official guest list is usually kept under wraps, celebrities considered relevant are often invited, while those who haven’t had recent projects or are wrapped up in controversy are typically on a persona non grata list.
While all the various co-chairs, honorary committee members, and their significant others are safe bets to attend, Page Six has shared a bevy of celebrities who have allegedly been extended invites as well.
This includes mainstays like Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber. Others expected to return again include Julia Garner, Alexa Chung, Gabrielle Union, Ella McCay, Rebecca Hall, and Golden State Warrior Jimmy Butler.
Devil Wears Prada 2 star Emily Blunt and her husband, John Krasinski, as well as Stanley Tucci, are also expected to attend, as are Angela Bassett, Ayo Edebri, Janelle Monae, Hunter Schafer, Solange, Troye Sivan, Joe Alwyn, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Heidi Klum, Laura Harrier, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Emma Chamberlain.
