The former Duke of York, who is left with only his blood as proof of his royal status after being completely stripped of his titles and status, marked his 66th birthday with the police on Thursday morning. This recent arrest adds to his public shame for his association with a convicted sex offender.

The aftermath of the revelation of ex-prince Andrew’s affiliation extends to his relationships with family members, as his brother, nephew, and daughters have kept him at arm’s length.

Ex-Prince Andrew Joins Other Royals Who Have Had Run-Ins With The Law

Former Prince Andrew, now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has been arrested, marking the first of the royal blood to be behind bars in almost four hundred years. Even though he is not the first to be charged, he goes down in history as the first to be arrested for alleged misconduct in public office.

Going down memory lane, King Charles I was arrested in 1646 during the English Civil War after the Royalists were defeated. He was placed on house arrest before being beheaded in January 1649 after facing crimes of tyranny in court.

Princess Anne also got involved with the law in 2002. She was convicted of owning a dog that bit two children and was fined £500 for breaching the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act. Notably, she was never arrested.

U.S. Magazine reported that Prince Philip, husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is also facing an issue with authorities. While he was not arrested, police officers spoke to him about driving without a seat belt in 2019. The Prince, however, did not address the warning till his death.

King Charles III Breaks Silence On His Brothers’ Arrest

King Charles is not vying for any preferential treatment from his brother, at least that is what his statement echoes. He declared that they will cooperate with the authorities, where necessary, to ensure investigations go smoothly. 

His statement read, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

Charles added that while his support and cooperation are assured, he feels it would not be right for him to comment further. “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” he emphasized before noting that his service as well as that of his family in office will not falter.

The U.K Thames Valley Police Released An Official Statement Addressing The Situation 

The BBC reported that the authorities addressed the situation but insisted they would not disclose the suspect’s identity. Their statement read:

“As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. We will not be naming the arrested man.”

Furthermore, they warned that, since the case is active, care should be taken with any publication to avoid contempt of court. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said that protecting the integrity and objectivity of the case was paramount.

Finally, he assured the public that their curiosity would not go unanswered, as they would provide information from the investigations into the alleged crime at the appropriate time.

Prince William’s Stance After The Allegations Against His Uncle

Prince William has been known to cut ties with anyone who goes against the values of the monarchy or threatens its stability. This rule extends even to his brother, Prince Harry, with whom he is estranged after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, resigned from their working royal roles in 2020 amid disturbing allegations.

The Blast reported that William and his wife, Catherine, were deeply concerned by the recent revelations of the Epstein files involving his uncle and have since distanced themselves from the disgraced royal. 

William reportedly has no allegiance to his uncle and is beyond frustrated at the turn of events. The allegations that have built distrust in the monarchy are described as his worst nightmare, and “If it were up to Prince William, he would have dealt with the Andrew fallout a long time ago,” British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard said.

Questions Arise About President Donald Trump Amid Ex-Prince Andrew’s Arrest

Many Americans on social media have once again mentioned Trump’s alleged past affiliation with Epstein. They have raised questions about how the Trump administration has handled ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Epstein files. 

“If they can arrest Prince Andrew for public corruption for his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, then Donald Trump needs to be put on trial for his crimes too,” a user noted on X.

President Donald Trump insists he is unbothered by scrutiny, as he has nothing to hide. “I have nothing to hide. I’ve been exonerated, I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein,” he told reporters.

Trump also previously stated that he has no involvement in any wrongdoing related to Epstein and, as reported by The Blast, denies having close ties with the former Prince.
