Comedian and actress Ego Nwodim is about to show off her talents in a new Off-Broadway project, months following her unexpected Saturday Night Livedeparture.
Entertainment Weekly reported that fans will be able to see Nwodim in a comedy show, located inside Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater. Nwodim’s New York City show’s run will start on November 19 and end on November 23.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Nwodim’s show is included in The Comedy Series. According to the Comedy Series’ website, the series features Vir Das‘ act, Hey Stranger, from October 29 to November 9, Jerrod Carmichael from November 12 to November 16, and Sam Jay‘s show, We The People, from December 3 to December 14. The website also states that the comedy series is “where stand-up meets storytelling.”

Each night is a chance for these artists to test boundaries, shape new material, and explore the space between humor and truth,” read a portion of the press release for The Comedy Series. “No two performances will be the same—because the creative process isn’t a straight line, and neither is this show. Ego Nwodim Revealed She Was Leaving ‘SNL’ After Her 7th Season
Entertainment Weekly reported that Nwodim, who joined SNL in 2018, revealed that she would no longer be on the NBC sketch comedy show after its 50th season on social media in September 2025. In the Instagram upload, she wrote, “The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight.”
“But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always,” continued Nwodim in the post.
Nwodim isn’t the only former SNL cast member who exited the show following Season 50. According to Entertainment Weekly, Devon Walker, Heidi Gardner, Emil Wakim,and Michael Longfellow left SNL before the current 51st season started airing in October 2025.
Ego Nwodim Explained How She Ended Up in Comedy
In a June 2023 interview on Behind the Scenes Beauty w/ D.M., Nwodim shared how she became part of the sketch comedy scene. The 37-year-old, who is originally from Maryland, said her mother allowed her to go to Los Angeles as long as she studied biology at college. She said that during her senior year at the University of Southern California, she got an “internship off-campus at a boutique talent agency” and began “taking an acting class.” She then started doing improv at LA’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB).
She also clarified that while she always wanted to perform as an actor, she didn’t have dreams to star on SNL.
“I didn’t know it was an option,” said Nwodim during the 2023 interview.
