The sprawling Montana lodge where Kelly Clarkson‘s late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock moved to after their split has been brought to the market for $2.9 million—just under a year after the talent manager passed away following a battle with cancer.
Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at the age of 48, purchased the Butte, MT, property in April 2022 for an undisclosed amount, just one month after his divorce from Clarkson was finalized.
The Fort Worth, TX, native was married to Clarkson for nine years, and the pair welcomed two children together during their relationship: River, now 12, and Remington, now 10.
However, in 2020, the couple announced they were separating, not long after they relocated to Montana during the COVID-19 lockdown—which put a temporary end to Clarkson’s now-defunct talk show, as well as her Las Vegas residency, giving them a chance to explore a more rural lifestyle with their kids.
Clarkson later took ownership of two Montana properties that they had shared during their marriage, both of which she still owns. However, the songstress took up more permanent residence in New York City in 2023, when her talk show moved from Los Angeles to the Big Apple.
Meanwhile Blackstock remained in the Big Sky State, picking up his own dwelling, where he is understood to have been living with his partner, Brittney Marie Jones, who previously worked as an assistant to Clarkson.
After his death, his obituary paid tribute to his love of Montana—while also revealing the work he and Jones had been doing together to build a livestock auction company, as well as a rodeo.
“After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live. He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana,” the online tribute read.
“Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.
“Brandon didn’t do anything halfway. He charged into life with both guns blazing. He was a cowboy… and valued the cowboy way of life. He drove a big truck, rode a good horse, and removed his hat when he introduced himself. He was a sharpshooter, a man’s man, and a true gentleman. He loved a hard day’s work that started early and finished late.”
Now, that same homestead has been put on the market, with the listing describing the 40-acre property as a “premium” dwelling that offers “a seamless blend of sophisticated architectural design and expansive Montana big-sky privacy.”
Set at the heart of that expansive parcel is a large lodge-style abode that features just over 6,400 square feet of living space, including four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, as well as a chef’s kitchen and a huge great room with soaring vaulted ceilings and an entire wall of windows that overlook the property.
A cozy loft space can be found above that main living area, while a “fully-finished lower level” features four of the home’s six bedrooms, as well as a large living room and a luxurious bar area.
Meanwhile, the primary suite is found on the main level, creating a “secluded retreat” that boasts its own fireplace, as well as a stunning en suite bathroom with a soaking tub and an integrated steam room.
However, perhaps one of the most impressive amenities found in the home is the indoor pool and spa room, which can be used year-round—but also has the option of being opened up to the outside world, thanks to the three walls of windows that surround it.
The property is also fully equipped as an equestrian facility, boasting a 3,800-square-foot horse barn, with eight stalls, a tack room, and a hay loft. Other structures found on the 40-acre spread include a heated workshop, a car shop, and three water wells.
Blackstock also ensured that his home remained fully accessible, even during the coldest winter months, with the addition of “premium snow-melt sidewalks” and a “fully paved driveway [that] leads directly to a county-maintained road, ensuring effortless access.”
The property, which was listed in June, is represented by Ryan Underwood of Keller Williams Copper City Realty and records show that the residence is still registered under Blackstock’s full name—Narvel Brandon Blackstock.
In addition to his private residence, Blackstock also invested heavily in local business, acquiring a livestock auction business in the area in 2023.
While it is not known exactly how much he paid for the business, which was originally opened in 2005, public records show that he “submitted a petition letter to request a change in name and ownership of license for Headwaters Livestock Auction in Three Forks, MT” in May 2023.
Blackstock is still listed as the company’s owner on its website, while his partner, Jones, is named as the managing director.
