Nicholas Galitzine is having his biggest moment yet as an actor, taking the iconic lead role of He-Man in the Masters of the Universe reboot. But his mind has also been on other things to celebrate over the past week.
In case you weren’t aware, the actor is a massive Arsenal fan alongside his Masters of the Universe co-star Idris Elba and The Idea of You co-star Anne Hathaway. He’s so dedicated that he gets up early on LA time to watch Arsenal games, and was even involved in a build-up video to a huge Arsenal game last year against Real Madrid.
If you don’t follow football, you might not be aware that Arsenal ended a 22-year wait to win the Premier League trophy this season. It was a huge moment for long-suffering fans like Galitzine (and the writer of this article, as it happens), so big that it rivalled the iconic He-Man moment of lifting the Sword of Power and saying the classic line, “By the power of Grayskull, I have the power”.
“[It was] pretty close, pretty damn close. I definitely felt empowered in both senses. I’ve never thought of it like that but that’s a really good [question], I’d say equal feeling,” Galitzine told Digital Spy at last night’s UK premiere for Masters of the Universe.

The role itself of He-Man was also a dream role for Galitzine, even before it happened to coincide with his beloved Arsenal winning the league.
“Truthfully, over the years I had gone up for various heroes and I never like really felt like I’d massively connected with the people I was being asked to play. This was the one that I really, really, really wanted and I know a lot of the cast felt that way as well,” he told us.
“I think what actually the outcome of that was that making this movie, however arduous, we just all loved our experience. We all had an amazing time working together and, really, that’s not often the case on movies at this scale, so I just feel very, very lucky I had that experience.”

The future could see Galitzine reprise the role of He-Man, but before we know if that will happen, we will be seeing him again as Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Wedding which marks the first time that he’s returned to a role.
“It was so wholesome. It’s the first time that I’ve come back to a character, and just getting to see all the familiar faces and also welcome some wonderful new ones like Lena Headey, who I’m a huge fan of, playing my mum. It was just a lovely experience,” he reflected on filming the sequel to the Prime Video hit.
Hopefully the future will also see the actor be able to celebrate many more Arsenal title wins.
Masters of the Universe is released in UK cinemas on 3 June.
