Malcolm-Jamal Warner left fans in their feels following his final performance. The beloved actor passed away in July on a family vacation after getting caught up in a rip current and drowning.
Nearly three months later, fans watched Warner in his final acting performance. In September, it was revealed that Warner filmed an episode of Fox’s Murder in a Small Town, which aired last night on Oct. 7.
It should come as no surprise that Warner was outstanding in the guest-starring role, playing a fiercely overprotective father trying to keep his daughter safe.
Fans wasted no time flocking to social media to discuss watching Warner in what ended up being his final role.
“malcolm-jamal warner’s last performance ending up being him playing a father protecting his daughter is so tragically poetic, and he was wonderful as always rip #murderinasmalltown,” wrote one fan on X.
Another fan on X stated, “I watched this episode just this morning and was pleasantly surprised when Malcolm-Jamal Warner popped up on my screen. It just made me miss him all the more! 🥲 #MalcolmJamalWarner #MurderInASmallTown”

One fan expressed, “I’m watching Murder in a Small Town and Malcolm-Jamal Warner pops up on screen. I had no idea this was his last role. Took me by surprise. RIP 🙏🏼”
The loss of Warner still doesn’t seem real, and that was something pointed out by a fan too, with one emphasizing, “i still can’t believe malcolm jamal warner passed,” read the X.

Over on the official Fox Instagram page, a clip of Warner in a scene with Rossif Sutherland also had fans talking.
“RIP Malcolm-Jamal Warner 💔” and “My guy 😢😢” were a couple of those comments.
The end of the Murder in a Small Town episode featured a card that read “Dedicated to the Memory of Malcolm-Jamal Warner,” and it left one fan crying.
Ahead of Warner’s appearance on the Fox show, executive producer, writer, and showrunnerIan Weir addressed losing Warner. Weir raved about he actor who was gone way too soon.
The executive producer also called what Warner brought on-screen “magical.” Those who have watched the episode know that Weir is not wrong, as Warner delivered a heartbreaking performance, giving it his all.
Although the Fox series was Warner’s final performance, it wasn’t the only thing he was in following his tragic death. The actor appears in the HBO documentary “Seen & Heard: The History of Black Television,” alongside Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry,Debbie Allen, and others.
There’s no question that Warner’s death is on the minds of the fans that he brought so much joy to and entertained for decades.
