On Sunday, Green Day opened for Super Bowl Lx and was met with notable disappointment when the notoriously political punk artists seemingly censored their music to make it more palatable for a mainstream audience.
For the opening ceremony, the band performed a medley of their classic hits “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “American Idiot.”
Previously, Green Day has been known to shamelessly slam right-wing leaders, including Donald Trump and Elon Musk, by incorporating various lyric changes into their songs.
However, during Green Day’s performance on Sunday, the band stuck to the original lyrics of their songs, prompting numerous comments speculating that NBC censored them.
