Valerie Bertinelli is never one to hold back her feelings, and her latest message has fans celebrating her personal growth.

The actress and former Food Network star has been embracing the summer by spending time with those she loves most, including her brother, Patrick Bertinelli, her son, Wolfgang “Wolfie” Van Halen, and Wolfie’s wife, Andraia Allsop. Valerie and her family recently enjoyed a memorable vacation in Europe, with the star documenting the trip on Instagram.

Along with a selfie in front of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, she noted that she is enjoying all that life has to offer.

“Sunset. Contentment. ☀️💛,” she wrote in the short caption on June 28.

Fans didn’t hesitate to pick up on how serene she’s seemed lately.

A few days later, Valerie posted a bare-faced selfie and offered some words of inspiration.

“I’d like to share something with you that might help with some challenges you may have gone or are going through,” she wrote on July 6. “The revelatory lesson I was able to learn in the last few years was this—unless and until you take care of the original shame that never ever belonged to you, someone will come along and try to use that vulnerability to take advantage of you … You will never control someone else’s behavior, nor should you. That’s on them. What you can control is your reaction and what you take away from it. Will you wallow in it or will you get your ass back up and learn something from it? Your work is within yourself. Focus on that. It’s none of your business what other people think of you.”
