Fans Say Taylor Swift Is ‘So Silly’ for Confusing Album Announcement Detail originally appeared on Parade.
Taylor Swift has officially announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, but as purchase links appeared on her official merch store shortly after midnight on Aug. 12, fans took note of a confusing detail surrounding the upcoming release.
Aside from the fact that she’s withholding both the release date and the cover art for the time being (though a preview of her podcast debut on New Heights later this week appeared to tease the big reveal for the cover), fans noticed that the album isn’t yet available for pre-order, but rather a pre pre-order, and it left many scratching their heads.

“[what] is pre pre order supposed to mean?” one wondered in response, while another asked, “what the hell is a pre pre order.”
“Pre pre order she’s so silly,” someone else quipped, as another wrote, “help what is that.”
“pre pre order is so unserious im crying,” they added.
“taylor i swear to god what is a pre-pre-order this is insane work,” the confusion persisted.
Someone else admitted, “oh my head HURTS,” over the verbiage, which has clearly created the latest mystery among Swifties.
Is it as simple as a clever description for ordering the album before the full release details are announced, or does it serve as the latest cryptic clue from the singer, who loves to sprinkle hints for her fans to piece together?
It seems only time will tell.
