Paris Hilton is under fire for asserting that she’s made her millions all on her own.
“I’m self-made,” Paris, 44, told The Sunday Times Magazine on Saturday, November 15. “Like, I’ve done this all on my own. No one’s ever given me anything in my entire life.”
Paris’ parents are Rick Hilton, whose grandfather Conrad N. Hilton founded Hilton Hotels, and Kathy Hilton, a Bravo reality star. As the Times noted, Paris’ late grandfather Barron Hilton, a billionaire, donated much of his own fortune to his family’s charity organization — “and nothing to her.”
Paris — who shares son Phoenix, who turns 3 in January, and daughter London, 2, with husband Carter Reum — told the Times that her company 11:11 Media is valued at $1 billion. She’s also one of the world’s top-earning DJs.
The outlet noted that Paris’ “self-made” admission would “raise some eyebrows” — and it did.

On the social media platform X, one person claimed that Paris “has had everything handed to her on a silver platter.”
Over on Reddit, one person wrote: “You had a perfume called “Heiress” gurl be [for real].” while another penned, “The Delusion.”
A third Reddit user added: “Even if you didn’t take seed money, handouts, or other direct support, there’s a huge difference between the kinds of risks someone coming from a background of wealth and security can take and someone just trying to keep food on the table can take.”
Some defended Hilton, with one writing on X that many others have landed reality shows, however, “No one else has leveraged that into her stratosphere of fame. Love her or hate her, the Paris Hilton we know is self made.”
