Fast Money Music is back with a darker edge on new single There Are No Words, dropping this Friday, ahead of the arrival of his self-titled debut album Fast Money Music, due 17th April 2026.
Following the bittersweet shimmer of earlier track Unfortunately, There Are No Words pivots into more confrontational territory. Angular guitars slice through a driving bassline, while the refrain carries a sharp, meta-awareness that mirrors the chaos of fractured relationships. It’s a track that wrestles with second-guessing, miscommunication and the realisation that sometimes silence speaks louder than anything else.
Nick Hinman explains: “There Are No Words is exactly that – the loss of knowing what the right thing to do or say is. The phrase was originally plucked from a moment of awe and joy, but here it’s repurposed for the feeling of being backed into a corner with nothing left to give.”
There’s a wiry urgency running through the single, nodding to the restless energy of The Clash, the artful minimalism of The Modern Lovers and the rhythmic snap of The Specials. The track also boasts an impressive cast of collaborators: John Waugh delivers screeching saxophone lines, while Steffan Halperin handles drums. Joshua Scarratt provides backing vocals and Joe Lyons steps in on bass.
The single offers another glimpse into the forthcoming debut album, a record steeped in what Hinman describes as “tough nostalgia”. Written across a decade, Fast Money Music explores longing, identity, rejection and the cruel precision of timing. Sonically, it blends bittersweet pop with jagged post-punk and breezy jangle, drawing subtle influence from lo-fi cult heroes The Cleaners from Venus, the prolific punch of Guided by Voices and the wiry funk minimalism of ESG.
Built as a collaborative effort, the album features contributions from George Daniel, Jamie Reynolds and Steffan Halperin of Klaxons, Daniel Vildòsola, Oliver Marson and Zoë Bleu. Production duties were shared between GRAMMY®-nominated Mikko Gordon — known for his work with IDLES and The Smile — and Hinman himself, with mastering handled by GRAMMY®-winner Matt Colton.
Described by Hinman as “part novel, part autobiography, part love story, part tragedy, and part comedy,” the record aims to capture life in all its messy duality. If There Are No Words is any indication, Fast Money Music is unafraid to confront the uncomfortable moments head-on.
