Fat Joe says his hunt for a glizzy proved unsuccessful in San Antonio this weekend.
Speaking with Chris Haynes and John Wall after the Knicks painted the town blue and orange with a championship win against the Spurs, thanks in large part to another electrifying turn from Jalen Brunson, the Bronx-born artist expressed gratitude for the people of San Antonio while playfully pointing to frustrations over the city’s apparent dearth of adequate hot doggery.
“Let me tell you something about San Antonio,” he said. “What they don’t have is glizzies. They got tacos. They don’t got the hot dogs, man. I’m going all around looking for a glizzy. They don’t have a glizzy. … They forced me to eat tacos, man. I’m telling you. Extra hot sauce. It’s crazy out here. We love you Latinos, San Antonio. Thank you for being so nice to us but we taking this thing home.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Joe, a staple across the Knicks’ history-making season, credited Brunson’s tenacity with helping push the Mike Brown-led team into the highest echelons of NBA glory for the first time in over half a century.
“Now, you could say OG [Anunoby] played phenomenal, which he did, but Brunson got us there,” he said. “He has this thing about him where he refuses to lose. He turns up. It’s nothing you could do. Four minutes, he gonna go.”
At press time, it was unclear whether Joe had since been able to mark the Knicks victory with a ceremonial glizzy. The writer of this article, however, has confirmed plans to do exactly that with renewed expediency.
