EXCLUSIVE: Film Mode Entertainment has boarded worldwide sales for Jeffrey Scott Collins’ dark heist comedy Above the Line ahead of its world premiere at the Sun Valley Film Festival in December.
Cast members due to attend the screening include Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood), Sophia Ali (Uncharted) and Jackson Pace (9-1-1: Lone Star).
Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who each get a mysterious knock at their door and an envelope full of dollars on their door mat.
It contains the “opportunity of a lifetime” to burglarize a mutually despised producer that once screwed them over and steal his Best Picture awards, with no clue as to who is behind the plan.
“Film Mode is thrilled to be working with the talented Jeffrey Scott Collins on what is sure to be an audience pleasing, and fun adventure,” said Film Mode Entertainment President Clay Epstein.
The cast also features Gregg Henry (of Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan (of United States of Al, Rules of Engagement), Reno Wilson (of Good Girls, Mike & Molly), John Way (of Oh Canada, Reality) and Jamie Lee (of Crashing).
Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.
Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on his first feature Poor Greg Drowning as well as the movie, Why Him?, is also an executive producer on the film. Other executive producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.
Collins is repped by Rewind Artists, Cedric by UTA, and Sophia Ali by Vault Entertainment.
