Construction on the new 4,000-seat music venue at 1201 Wylie Ave. is “on track” and moving “toward opening this fall,” according to a communications spokesperson representing Live Nation.
Now it’s time to see what the space — including Teenie Harris photo displays, an upside down mirrored piano, rooftop lounge and vinyl room — will presumably look like when the project is finished.
At the March 13, 2025, groundbreaking, Marimba Milliones, president and CEO of The Hill Community Development Corp., said Live Nation had committed to having retail space inside The Wylie for small Black-owned businesses, placing a $2 surcharge on all tickets, which will be added to the Greater Hill District Reinvestment Fund, and supporting the restoration of the historic New Granada Theater.
The Wylie will create 350 jobs with a base pay of at least $20 per hour once it opens, according to Live Nation’s local President Tom Loudermilk.
It is not clear yet if any acts have been booked to play there. The 4,000-seat theater has a capacity between the indoor and outdoor portions of North Shore’s Stage AE. Those involved with the project say acts of similar popularity will likely play at the Wylie.
